6 th R.C. Chopra Memorial National Moot Court Competition, commenced yesterday in St. Soldier Law College, concluded today with the team of Symbiosis Law School, Pune having been adjudged as the winner bagging the trophy and a cash prize of Rs.11000/-. Team from UILS, Punjab University, Chandigarh won the 1 st Runner Up trophy and cash prize of Rs.5100/-Ms.Rupali of Symbiosis Law School, Pune and Mr. Shubham Malkani of Rajiv Gandhi National Law University were respectively adjudged the Best Student Advocate and the Best Researcher, both of whom got trophies and cash prizes of Rs.2100/- each. And 2nd Best Researcher awarded to Mr. Ananya Govind Sharma of Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow with a cash prize of Rs.1100/-. These results came after six rounds of the competition of which three were held today. Mr.Justice S.D.Anand, Former Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court and Law Member of Central Administrative Tribunal Chandigarh presided over the final of the competition and distributed prizes as the Chief Guest.
Earlier be was received by the Chairman of St. Soldier Group Mr. Anil Chopra, Mrs.Sangeeta Chopra, Vice- Chairperson, Pro-Chairman, Mr. Prince Chopra and the M.D. Mr. Manhar Arora. The Director of the College Dr. S.C. Sharma welcomed the Chief Guest and advocates from High Court and Jalandhar, who acted as the judges during first five phases of the competition.
Justice Anand in his addresses lauded the effort of St.Soldier Law College and congratulated the winners and other participants of 44 teams having come from distant place covering all regions of the country, Emphasizing the importance of moot courts in legal education, he shared that he himself was the best mooter of Punjab University as a student. Prof. Simi Thind presented the vote of thanks.
